Are There Hair Loss Cures?
If you are beginning to see a loss of hair or thinning spots, you are probably wondering if there are hair loss cures. If you have full blown balding on your head or body, you might be wondering when science is going to come up with some cures for this condition. You know that presently there are no known hair loss cures. There are a lot of products – medical and natural that may offer you a successful hair loss treatment. Some of these products may help slow down the hair thinning process, and some of them may even stimulate new hair growth. However, if in your case, it’s a permanent type of hair loss, there is presently no known cure.
Alopecia and DHT – Are there Cures for this?
There are many causes of hair loss, and many of these are temporary. The two main are: Alopecia and the hereditary, hormonal disorder where the body produces Dihydrotestosterone or DHT. Alopecia is a disease that affects men and women of all ages and races. Most often it begins in childhood. Alopecia is an auto-immune disease where the body sees the hair as bacteria and sends white bloods cells to kill the follicles. The hair loss can be in spots on the head, the entire head or in its rarest form, the entire body. This condition is not necessarily permanent. The hair can grow back entirely, even after years of being gone. However, they can then fall out completely again. This disease does not kill the hair follicle, which is why it isn’t permanent. There are herbs and medicines out there that are known to stimulate hair growth and may help slow down the disease. There is presently no cure for Alopecia. Scientists are doing mega-research with genes and cloning to try and cure this disease.
DHT is a hormonal disorder where the body turns testosterone into Dihydrotestosterone or DHT. DHT attacks the hair follicles eventually killing it. There is no cure known today to recreate follicles. This would be like trying to re-grow any body part. DHT most commonly affects men post puberty, but women are affected too. Typically if women are affected by DHT, it is post menopausal when a woman’s hormones have dropped significantly. DHT causes permanent balding. There are many products out there that say they can help stimulate hair growth, and more importantly, there are products that say they stop DHT production or block it from the follicles. These products, if they work for you, will slow down the balding process.
Your hair loss problem may be caused by something other than DHT or Alopecia. If it is, then the loss is probably temporary. If your baldness is caused by DHT or Alopecia, presently there is no known cure. There are many, many treatments out there however, that may slow down or stop your baldness. Hopefully, science is close to some hair loss cures for you!
